Cooking with Chef Johnny
The talented and generous Nukumi posted her translation of Nino's TvStation May 2008 interview with yet another version of how he created Gimmick Game. Remember when he said it was supposedly inspired by Ohno's dirty fingers? Here's a little different story--
My solo for the limited edition release, Gimmick Game, was completely hand made by me, from the lyrics to the music to the arrangement. In the end it seems like its easier to write from a female perspective, especially when writing about love, the girl's perspective seems much better. I get asked if my own perspective on love doesn't come out in the lyrics, but its not really like that. (laughs) The motive for the lyrics was listening to what my friend's daughter was talking about, stuff like "don't wash my clothes with yours" or "I don't want to get in the bath after dad just did". The first "doushite darou~" phrase is that female approach. But a motive until the end, so I'd be pleased if it would be listened to with each of the senses.
I wonder how many stories that man has up his sleeve? :) Nino's such an interesting character!
Two really nice articles about Jun Matsumoto, written in English!
POP! Goes the MatsuJun (or Lessons Learned from a Japanese Idol)
Nino's new song, Gimmick Game, is stuck in my head! But there is no denying my iPod play count. I've tried listening to it over and over, hoping that I'd just get sick of it. I've tried listening to other songs. I've read the lyrics and even their convoluted weirdness hasn't turned me off. Totally awesome song!
321 plays......sigh......
I have become an obsessed Arashi fangirl. My ipod is full of Arashi. My hard drive is full of Arashi and my external hard drive is rapidly becoming full of Arashi. I do not mind this obsession as it doesn't seem to lead to anything dangerous--unless my family kills me!
You see, this obsession demands people to 'flail' with! Sharing is caring, right? So I have tried to share my joy in Arashi with everyone I know. But my husband doesn't care, my children are horrified by their crazy mother, and my friends are polite but truly puzzled as to what has happened to me. And old ladies who like Arashi and live in the US seem to be few and far between. So I'm starting this blog to meet new friends with my same taste in feather and sequin wearing Japanese guys! Hope you are one of them! :)
